The Bob Dylan Center is thrilled to present legendary singer-songwriter Robyn Hitchcock in a rare local appearance at LowDown. With a career now spanning six decades, Hitchcock remains a truly one-of-a-kind artist — surrealist rock ‘n’ roller, iconic troubadour, nimble guitarist, clever and compassionate poet, and a thoroughly engaging performer who spins fantastic tales rife with dazzling wordplay and melodious twists and turns. From his early days with proto-psych-punk band The Soft Boys through his more polished pop gems with The Egyptians and dozens of solo albums, Hitchcock has crafted a strikingly original oeuvre rife with sagacious observation, astringent wit, recurring marine life, mechanized rail services and innumerable finely drawn characters both real and imagined (including Clint Eastwood and the Balloon Man). This special solo performance will showcase highlights and left-field surprises from Hitchcock’s amazing discography and will no doubt delight longtime followers and newcomers to the Hitchcock fan club alike.
