In celebration of his 75th birthday this year, genre-blurring guitar virtuoso, composer and band leader Bill Frisell has planned a handful of one-off events that span his varied musical interests and talents. For this very special evening presented by the Bob Dylan Center, Frisell will premiere stunning new arrangements of some of his favorite Dylan and Woody Guthrie songs, interspersed with brilliant originals and radical reinterpretations of classics and obscure gems. Joined by Luke Bergman on bass and Tim Angulo on drums, Frisell will perform in the intimate, acoustically pristine Wilson Auditorium at the Philbrook Museum.
The Bob Dylan Center gratefully acknowledges the support of Robert Mailer Anderson and Nicola Miner; The Miner Anderson Family Foundation in making this program possible.

Please note: This event will be held at the Patti Johnson Wilson Auditorium at the Philbrook Museum of Art

About Bill Frisell:
Over fifty years, thousands of performances and dozens of award-winning recordings, Bill Frisell has honed a gleefully unclassifiable sound on electric guitar in a creative journey marked by wonderfully rewarding left turns and musical surprises. A partial list of Frisell’s collaborators includes Ron Carter, Elvis Costello, Marianne Faithfull, the Frankfurt Ballet, Allen Ginsberg, Petra Haden, Rickie Lee Jones, Allison Krauss, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Van Dyke Parks, Robert Plant, Ron Sexsmith, Paul Simon, McCoy Tyner, Gus Van Sant, Suzanne Vega, Louden Wainwright III, Lucinda Williams, Hal Wilner and John Zorn. He worked with Bono, Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois on the soundtrack for Wim Wenders’ “Million Dollar Hotel,” and with T Bone Burnett on the soundtrack for James Mangold’s “Walk the Line.” In Sept. 2022, Frisell participated in A Tribute to Bob Dylan, a multi-artist evening of live performances curated by Burnett and presented at The Town Hall in partnership with the Bob Dylan Center.
About Luke Bergman:
Luke Bergman is a multi-instrumentalist based in New York City who has worked with Bill Frisell as a bassist, guitarist and vocalist, appearing on Frisell’s album “Harmony.” Bergman is known for his distinctive approach to the pedal-steel guitar, performing jazz and classical music alongside repertoire traditionally associated with the instrument. He has released two solo albums and one trio album with Jason Burger and Martin Nevin, and has collaborated with Heatwarmer, Thousands, Lonesome Shack and the Cuong Vu 4-Tet.
About Tim Angulo:
Tim Angulo is a drummer and composer based in New York City. Although his background is in jazz, Angulo has performed with a wide array of musicians including Tortoise guitarist Jeff Parker, Ethiopian legend Mulatu Astatke, acclaimed trumpet player Ambrose Akinmusire and MacArthur fellow Craig Taborn, as well as jazz royalty Reggie Workman, Ravi Coltrane and Bill Frisell. He is a member of experimental group L’Rain and is as comfortable performing at North Sea Jazz Festival, The MET Museum and Billboard live Tokyo as he is on stadium stages such as Forest Hills and the Hollywood Bowl.
