Dr. TOM PALAIMA
UT-AUSTIN PROFESSOR EMERITUS
Tom Palaima is Armstrong Centennial Professor of Classics emeritus at the University of Texas at Austin. Palaima received a five-year MacArthur fellowship for work on Aegean scripts, focused on paleography, scribal systems, and the use of the Linear B tablets to answer questions about many aspects of life in Greek prehistory. He has taught seminars, written articles, book reviews and intellectual commentaries, and lectured, on human creative responses to war, violence and social injustice, and songs as social commentary, including the song poems of Bob Dylan. He wrote more than 300 editorials for the Austin-American Statesman.
